Advisers Seminar

Oglesbee was the featured speaker at the 2008 Winter Advisers’ seminar
March 7 and 8, held at The
Abbey Resort on Lake Geneva in Fontana, Wisconsin. Forty-three
advisers heard her energetic and humorous presentations on everything
from photo composition to fundraising. A member of the Journalism
Education Association board of directors, Lori is the yearbook and
broadcasting adviser at McKinney High School in McKinney, Texas.
Her yearbook, newspaper and broadcast staffs have won Gold Star,
Pacemaker Finalist, Best of Show and numerous other state, regional
and national awards. She has advised high school publications and
taught at summer workshops for more than two decades. |

- Early
registration (before February 1) was $60 per participant
(with an additional $30 for each additional dinner guest).
- Late
registration was $70 (with an additional $30 for each additional
dinner guest).

- On Friday,
sessions are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with appropriate time
for meals, breaks, check-in, etc. Registration is at 9 a.m.
- After a social
hour and dinner on Friday (included with the registration fee), participants
engage in a memento exchange, involving items from their schools –
such as t-shirts, caps, etc.
- Participants
are also asked to bring copies of their publications for browsing
or exchange.
KEMPA is a registered
professional development provider with the Illinois State Board of Education.
The Winter Seminar earns Illinois teachers seven CPDUs towards recertification.
