Aaron Manfull will be the featured speaker at the 2011 Winter Advisers’ Seminar
March 4 and 5, held at the Grand Geneva
Resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
A 12-year veteran of scholastic journalism, Aaron has advised nationally aclaimed yearbooks, newspapers, and magazines at Francis Howell North High School in St. Charles, Missouri. Besides guiding his students in the production of podcasts and other online media, he chairs JEA's Digital Media Committee and is the webmaster of the Missouri Interscholastic Press Association. He is a frequent speaker and workshop instructor at journalism events throughout the Midwest.
Aaron will focus on the many issues involved with online publishing in his sessions. Also on the agenda for the weekend is Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel photographer Rick Wood.

The seminar brochure and
registration materials are mailed to Illinois and Wisconsin schools in
December.
- Early
registration (before February 1) is $80 per participant (with
an additional $35 for each additional dinner guest).
- Late
registration is $90 (with an additional $35 for each additional
dinner guest).

- On Friday,
sessions are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with appropriate time
for meals, breaks, check-in, etc. Registration is at 9 a.m.
- After a social
hour and dinner on Friday (included with the registration fee), participants
engage in a memento exchange, involving items from their schools –
such as t-shirts, caps, etc.
- Participants
are also asked to bring copies of their publications for browsing
or exchange.
KEMPA is a registered
professional development provider with the Illinois State Board of Education.
The Winter Seminar earns Illinois teachers seven CPDUs towards recertification.
